Ruthanna Emrys is a speculative fiction writer known for thoughtful, subversive takes on science fiction and fantasy. She is best known for The Innsmouth Legacy series, beginning with Winter Tide, which reimagines Lovecraft’s mythos through the lens of community, prejudice, and survival. Her work often brings feminist, queer, and deeply human perspectives to familiar genre themes. In addition to fiction in outlets like Strange Horizons, Analog, and Tor.com, she is also the author of the solarpunk first-contact novel A Half-Built Garden. She lives near Washington, D.C.
