Putting aside their mission to return the Haven, Zzind, to her home planet, Echo Squad, the data copies of Finn, Zuri, Smith and Noah encounter the ancient S'lgarr as he absorbs his disembodied brothers starving between the Nodes.

As reality hits, and S'lgarr heads towards Earth, they are forced to follow, arriving too late and expecting the monstrous Garr to have begun feeding on the world's humanity. Instead, the ancient evil insinuates itself into Earth's electromagnetic system, hiding itself and preparing.

In Scotland, a marooned Stratan Marine squad work with the British Army after awakening an original Garr, one embodied and hungry. When Echo Squad arrive, copied memories of the first Stratan attack on their old platoon surface, the death of their squad mates and Commander vivid and raw.

With raised suspicions, they quietly hunt S'lgarr, while watching this worrying alliance from afar, not yet ready to reveal themselves to the world.

As S'lgarr's plans develop, and panic rises among governments already on the brink of war over the struggle for Stratan technology, the world tumbles into a crisis where humanity's very existence is on the brink.
