Reem al-Farhan, former Saudi Royal Guard, has settled in New York and made a new life for herself. She provides security services to visiting royalty from the Middle East.

One of her clients asks her to look into a charity that resettles women from war-torn countries. Reem thinks it is some casual book-keeping work, until she is shot at by snipers and hunted by killers. The shotcallers thought that would be enough to deter her. They are wrong.

They also don't know of Axton "Ax" Hawke, one half of PI firm Hawke and Stryker, her on-off boyfriend. They are "off" now. That doesn't matter to Ax. There is nothing he won't do when those close to him are harmed. But with what they are up against, even his brand of storm might not be enough.
