Returning to the Fringe, Amber discovers that her grandmother's past is even more complicated than she thought. A rebellion has begun, and the Fringe is beginning to wake. But what seems like a reaction to the actions of the Prime, is really something that's been brewing for some time...

As the Havenite and Neoroman forces gather at the abandoned fort, Amber, her grandmother, and Jude set off on an adventure of their own. Heading for Pine Lake, they search out Amber's parents and Jude's auntie, Grace, desperate to make sure their loved ones are OK.

What they find leads them onto another, darker path. And soon, as the Fringe begins to rise up, Amber realises that it's time for her to do the same. Because back at the fort, far away, trouble is brewing. And if Amber's to help, she's going to have to let go of her doubts, and let her powers soar.
