Who put the goddess of disruption in charge of, well, anything?
Mischief is the Trickster, godling of chaos, made to keep the magic that flows through Ivernia from stagnating. She's the fourth incarnation in the role; numbers 1 to 3 failed, and were incinerated. As Mischief has inherited her predecessors' memories, she's painfully certain she'd rather not repeat the experience.
She's opposed by Constantine, Lord of Logic. Ruthless and manipulative, he's responsible for the destruction of the other tricksters. Mischief's only hope for survival is to convince the people of Ivernia to reject his rigidity. Handicapped by her impulsive Trickster nature, which leaves her unsuited to lead much more than a parade, she sets out to influence humanity by using the one tool she possesses — injecting enough bewitching magic into their lives that they spurn Constantine's ways.
The problem is, who wants chaos when the other guy is promising a cozy, safe life, if you just follow a few simple rules. Well, maybe more than a few, but still….
It's all played out three times before, three other tricksters, three violent endings. Can Mischief focus long enough to get the job done? Or will she end up as a fluffy cloud of ashes, like those who came before?
