Coveted for my power, I must hide in plain sight.

Years after my mother was taken from me, I'm back in the ancient city I loved, but also the place which became a reminder of the worst night of my life. I must succeed in my mission to infiltrate the High Coven in the city of York. They're the ones holding my mother captive, and the only way to find her is to become one of them.

I've spent years finding a way into their coven, doing the one thing my mother warned me not to do. I use my magic. To be a shadow witch is to create new spells, a coveted power that isn't supposed to exist. My kind died out centuries ago, and yet here I am. If the Covens obtain my power, they will have a second witch to create for them - one more powerful than they've ever seen. I can't be discovered and risk the same life of captivity that my mother succumbed to. She sacrificed herself for me so that I could live a free life, but one of guilt, knowing it was my fault she was taken.

To free her, I must hide in the one place they wouldn't think to look. Within the heart of the High Coven itself, working in their archives where I can learn more about my developing abilities. Abilities I can use to find my mother.
