10 Questions with Liz Cain
1

For those unfamiliar with your style & genre, how would you describe your writing?

My latest releases are fast paced urban fantasy with a hint of romance and found family vibes. These books are fade to black, but full of tension and steam. My older books are dark romantasy with powerful beings, spicey romance and twists you won’t see coming!

2

Where did you grow up and did this location influence your writing in any way?

Near Hull in East Yorkshire. I started writing later in life and so far there’s no influences, however, I’m about to start writing a series based in Yorkshire and have used old haunts for inspiration.

3

What kind of reader were you as a child?

My dad gave me sci fi and Lord of the Rings when I was 8, which was maybe a bit young, but I loved reading. We lived in a small hamlet with little to do but read so my head was always in a book.

4

If you could write like any other author, who would it be and why?

K F Breene. She introduced me to the world of indie publishing and showed that you don’t have to be traditionally published to be successful. I love her writing style and confidence.

5

Who are your top 5 favorite authors?

K F Breene, Maria V Snyder, Heather G Harris, Rosie Wylor-Owen, Karen Rose

6

What is one book you repeatedly gift?

Poison Study by Maria V Snyder

7

Of all the characters you've penned, who has been most influenced by your personal story?

This is tricky, I think I insert a little of myself into every character I write. I would probably choose Angel for my younger self as I struggled to connect with people but more Morgan now I’m older.

8

What is your favorite book that you've written?

Dealer’s Choice - my first solo release and the book that started me down my own path of discovery.

9

Describe your writing space.

I’ve recently moved and finally have my own office, with a small desk and a huge amount of bookshelves waiting to be filled! Before that it was anywhere I could find space. The kitchen table, sofa, my bed…

10

And finally, what's your ideal reading nook?

A cabin in the woods with a decent sized bath and lots of wine, a cozy fire and blankets!

Little Stacks of Fantasy
