Sea Change

Dark clouds are on the horizon. I’m ready for the storm.

Life on land is better than ever. My debt is paid, I have a new cave and sweet ride, and my love life holds more promise than a chest of shipwrecked coins. But a tsunami of trouble is racing my way.

Swift, the new mer leader of my former underwater home at the Seamount, has big plans for us half-sirens, and it’s not hosting a seafood buffet. He’s afraid of secrets we might leak to humans. He’s not entirely wrong.

I became part of the problem when I rescued some half-sirens from the Seamount. That act of compassion led Swift to our shores, trailing an army in his wake. We must fight the fearmongering and hate for our right to live. Death isn’t the solution.

But the answer? That’s what I need to find before it’s too late.
