Edward Rutherfurd was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, and studied at Cambridge University and Stanford. Known for his richly detailed historical epics, he debuted with Sarum, inspired by the history of Salisbury, followed by novels such as London, Russka, The Forest, Dublin, and Ireland Awakening. His work is grounded in extensive research and a deep interest in social history. Rutherfurd has spent much of the past three decades in New York and Connecticut, where he lives with his family and has been active in local community life.
