Lucy's new life begins... mostly because there's nothing left of her old one. With her parents dead and no one else to take her in, she's sailing across kraken-infested oceans to the new colonies, where she hopes her estranged aunt will take her in. If not, she'll be completely on her own, except for two little secrets she's hiding.

Elliot just needs a ride back. The kaiju hunter is returning to the colonies, but is always more than willing to pick up his weapons when trouble rears its head. His scarred body shows he'd known his fair share of danger, but he also knows to enjoy life's pleasures when he can... which means flirting with the lovely science lass aboard the ship.

Neither of them expected a kraken, a storm, or their ship sinking in the middle of the journey. With Lucille refusing to let go of her belongings, Elliot trying to keep the kaiju's tentacles from ripping their ship in half, and a sudden storm blowing away all luck, they'll have to work together to find land again, let alone civilization.
