The Battle of Life: A Love Story is the fourth of Dickens" five Christmas books. It is worth mentioning that it is the only book out of five that does not deal with any supernatural elements.
It is not a social novel and is resolved with a romantic twist. The book is written in three parts, an uplifting tale of winning one of the many wars fought in the battle of life. The tale's ending is a happy one, typical to all of Dickens books.
The book includes original illustrations by Daniel Maclise, Richard Doyle, Clarkson Stanfield and John Leech, an active/navigable table of contents, and a free audiobook link for download (which can be downloaded using a PC/Mac) at the end of the book.
