Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977) was a Russian-American novelist, poet, and literary critic whose works are celebrated for their playful language, intricate structures, and bold themes. Best known for Lolita, Nabokov also wrote acclaimed novels such as Pale Fire, Ada or Ardor, and The Gift. Born in St. Petersburg, he lived in Berlin, Paris, and finally the United States, where he became a professor of literature. Nabokov's fiction, both in Russian and English, continues to captivate readers worldwide.
