Doe shifter Emily Dawson is on the run. Pregnant and with no one to turn to, she fled from an affluent city on the East coast to hide in the sleepy town of Heartland, Montana. It's a place Emily believes the father of her child won't look to find her. She hopes so because she's learned she can't trust anyone, especially herself. But Emily needs to find a way to feed herself and her unborn child, and she's close to desperate the day an irresistibly sexy bear shifter named Bruce offers her a job as the office manager of a car and motorcycle repair shop. Bruce Thompson isn't sure why Emily's so jumpy and what it is she's hiding from him.
