For those unfamiliar with your style & genre, how would you describe your writing?

I would say it is raw and honest. Horror is all about connecting with the reader through universal emotions like fear or grief.  Some of the books are also very sensual and steamy!!

Where did you grow up and did this location influence your writing in any way?

I grew up in south Texas and my writing is also very much inspired by my Mexican American heritage. I love digging into Mexican and Aztec history, folklore, and urban legends.

What kind of reader were you as a child?

I read everything I could get my hands on in the school library. "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" was a huge early inspiration. I soon moved to King, Rice, and V.C. Andrews!

For readers new to your work, what title would you recommend?

I would say "The Queen of The Cicadas" or "The Haunting of Alejandra".  If you want heat then I would suggest "Immortal Pleasures" or "The Pink Agave Motel".

Who are your top 5 favorite authors?

I can't even begin with five!!! There are so many amazing creators these days.

What is one book you repeatedly gift?

I am very lucky to be sent books (advance copies) so I like to gift those!

Of all the characters you've penned, who has been most influenced by your personal story?

Alejandra in "The Haunting of Alejandra". This book is about mental health, motherhood, marriage, and generational trauma.

What is your favorite indie bookstore?

VORTEX run by Mary San Giovanni and Brian Keene or Blackwells in the UK

Describe your writing space.

I'm a mother so anywhere! I have an office, but I have to write on the go sometimes.

And finally, what's your ideal reading nook?

On a sunbed near the water.
