10 Questions with V. Castro
1

For those unfamiliar with your style & genre, how would you describe your writing?

I would say it is raw and honest. Horror is all about connecting with the reader through universal emotions like fear or grief.  Some of the books are also very sensual and steamy!!

2

Where did you grow up and did this location influence your writing in any way?

I grew up in south Texas and my writing is also very much inspired by my Mexican American heritage. I love digging into Mexican and Aztec history, folklore, and urban legends.

I read everything I could get my hands on in the school library. "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" was a huge early inspiration. I soon moved to King, Rice, and V.C. Andrews!

Of all the characters you've penned, who has been most influenced by your personal story?

Alejandra in "The Haunting of Alejandra". This book is about mental health, motherhood, marriage, and generational trauma.
