Tony Hillerman was the award-winning author best known for his mystery novels set in the Navajo Nation. He served as president of the Mystery Writers of America and received both the Edgar and Grand Master Awards, along with honors such as the Spur Award and the Navajo Tribal Council Special Friend of the Dineh Award. A native of Oklahoma, he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, until his death in 2008.
