Sylvia Plath (1932–1963) was born in Massachusetts. Her acclaimed poetry collections include The Colossus, Crossing the Water, Winter Trees, Ariel, and Collected Poems, which received the Pulitzer Prize. She is also known for her semi-autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar. An unabridged facsimile of Ariel, reflecting her original selection and arrangement, was published in 2004. Plath was married to poet Ted Hughes, with whom she had two children, Frieda and Nicholas.
