With her brother dead and his followers driven out of the Forgotten Territories, the quest for revenge should be over. But for Emiri, unanswered questions remain. Guided by curiosity and vague prophesy, Emiri and Reggie set off on a quest to find the most likely culprit—the outlaw witch Nieroda Morin. Their search leads them to the cursed village of Zed, where the men have disappeared and the women who remain must beat back the soul-sucking fiends that crawl out of the swamp each night.

The friends have no choice but to take up arms against the monsters alongside them. For if Emiri is to find the answers she seeks, she must first get out of Zed alive.
