Parnell Hall (1944–2020) was the author of the Stanley Hastings mysteries, the Puzzle Lady series, and the Steve Winslow legal mysteries. His debut novel Detective was nominated for both the Edgar and Shamus Awards, and he became known for sharp, witty dialogue inspired in part by Robert B. Parker’s work.
