Ovidia Yu was born in Singapore and continues to live and write there. She initially studied science and entered medical school before realizing medicine was not her path. After leaving college, she entered her first writing competition, and her short story “A Dream of China” won first prize in the Asiaweek Short Story Competition. She has since written short stories, plays, novels, and a children’s book, and now focuses primarily on traditional mystery fiction.
