Olesya Salnikova Gilmore is a novelist whose work draws on Eastern European history, folklore, and atmosphere to create richly textured fantasy, gothic horror, and historical fiction. Originally from Moscow and raised in the United States, she left a legal career to pursue writing full time. She is especially known for The Witch and the Tsar and The Haunting of Moscow House, novels that blend myth, history, and the uncanny. She lives in a wooded lakeside suburb of Chicago with her husband and two daughters.
