Alastair Jones comes to Dauntless looking for a sea change after the death of his husband. The quiet island seems like the perfect place to slow down and forget the rest of the world exists, after a career working in a busy Melbourne hospital. As the island's first and only doctor, he has a purpose again.

Robbie Finch has spent his whole life on Dauntless, working the family farm and keeping his head down. But every few weeks, the quiet becomes unbearable, and he takes the ferry to Newcastle to find what he needs—rough, anonymous sex with strangers who won’t remember his name in the morning.
