Draya is a treasure hunter who revels in her independence. An expert in her field, she has no qualms descending into the bowels of an ancient palace at the request of a mysterious client — the laws of the Order be damned.

Nel is an Aegis, an elite champion devoted to the tenets of their faith. Raised within the stronghold of the Order of the Cresting Tide, Nel takes their duties with utmost seriousness, even beyond that of their fellow soldiers.

Their fates collide when Draya's attention is drawn to a forbidden chamber far removed from her intended mission. Thrust into the machinations of a long-dead sorcerer and more than one apocalyptic prophecy, Draya and Nel find themselves bound to one another against their will.

Beset by a supernatural drought and straddled with secrets, Draya is forced to tolerate the frustratingly righteous soldier as they flee vengeful mobs, angry cults, and necromantic monsters. Will her coveted power of Navigation and Nel's unwavering conviction be enough to mitigate her newfound notoriety? Or will they both be consumed by the forces of Darkness she's set free to roam? If she can make sense of the strange voice in her head, maybe they'll both live long enough to find out.
