Kingsley Amis (1922–1995) was a renowned British author, poet, and critic, best known for his comic novels and sharp satirical style. He gained widespread acclaim with his debut novel, Lucky Jim (1954), which remains one of the greatest examples of British post-war satire. Amis was a prolific writer, producing more than 20 novels, including The Old Devils (1986), which won the Booker Prize. His works often explored themes of social class, academic life, and the absurdities of modern society. Amis was also known for his literary criticism, short stories, and poetry, leaving a lasting impact on British literature.
