This book is for you if you're into...
- Ex-child soldiers forced back into the underworld
- Gritty realism grounded in researched covert ops and trauma
- Rescue missions where the hero’s past is a weapon
Raised as a child soldier. Rescued as a teenager. Now an adult. Ripley "Rip" Lawrence has done the best he could to put his past behind him. Not an easy task when his body is riddled with the scars of the life he was once forced to live. Now he is a simple construction worker on vacation with his girlfriend, Ashley. At least he was until she got kidnapped.
Awakening a side of himself that is perhaps better left asleep, he must work with the businesses of the Underworld to track her down. Caught up in a web of intrigue tracing back to her family's company and one of their R&D projects, he must do what he does best. Eliminate the opposition, from a distance, if possible, the shadows if not, and up close if there is no other choice.
For, as he has been told by his guardian in the past, he is no covert operative. What Rip is instead, is a WetWork Operator. Even if his skills have gotten a little rusty since he was rescued ten years earlier.
This book is also being released without DRM.
Extensive research has been done on the subject matters within this book. That includes the lives of Child Soldiers, Covert Operatives and more. I have discussed and gone over the content that has been written with various experts who shall remain forever unnamed. That said, this is a fiction story and certain liberties needed to be taken at times. While I did my best to remain far closer to reality than your typical movie, I still wanted the story to be entertaining. Unfortunately, the grim reality of certain subjects is far beyond my ability to currently bring to life on the pages of this book. Just know that what the MC goes through in the story, while not strictly speaking typical, is also not abnormal by any means or even the worst of what I came across during my research.
