Qod is a goblin—a rather small, unassuming goblin who would much rather be eating rat cracks and reading books at home. And that's what he was doing when he was conscripted into the Army of the Mist to fight the invading Light forces.

Cannon fodder doesn't need to be trained, so he's immediately thrust into battle to sacrifice his life for the Dark. Except that fate has other ideas, and he somehow not only survives the battle but becomes a most unlikely hero.

Goblins are the lowest of the low, and not everyone welcomes his new status. He becomes a pawn for powerful factions. Surviving one battle was hard enough. But how can one young goblin avoid getting killed by not only the Light but by his own Dark leaders?
