Jonathan Lethem, born in New York and educated at Bennington College, is known for novels including Fortress of Solitude and Motherless Brooklyn—the latter earning multiple literary honors. He has also published short story collections, a novella, and a collection of essays. In addition, he edited The Vintage Book of Amnesia, guest-edited The Year’s Best Music Writing, and served as the founding fiction editor of Fence magazine. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, Rolling Stone, McSweeney’s, and other periodicals. Lethem currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
