But this year, everyone has a plan for Nissa. Her father, the Warlord, seeks to use her to shore up an alliance with another clan. On the other hand, Ria wants to leap with Nissa across the Longest Night flames and let her choose whether it promises one night of pleasure under the stars or a year to see whether the love that's grown between them might bear a lifetime. Ria will take whatever Nissa wants to give her.

Nissa faces a choice between duty and desire… but her decision won't just affect her own happiness. It may also determine what kind of future the new year will bring for her people.
