Graham Swift, born in 1949, is the author of ten novels, two short story collections, and Making an Elephant, a blend of essays, poetry, and reflections on his writing life. His novel Waterland won The Guardian Fiction Award, and Last Orders won the Booker Prize-both later adapted for film. His work has been translated into more than thirty languages.
