Publisher Description

Chet Drokan had never met a rule he didn't want to break. He operated within the grey areas, where you lived by a moral code, and laws were merely a suggestion. He was a dragon; his kind had been around when the earth's crust had cooled, and he wasn't about to be told what was right and wrong by a bunch of stuffy suits who never stepped outside their corner offices.

When the Creature Crisis Center comes under threat, there was no rule he wouldn't bend to make sure his teams survived the scrutiny. It was unfortunate that his pen pushing auditor was a beautiful woman who made his dragon pant. But she was the enemy and he wouldn't succumb to some pretty curves. No way.

Eleanor Blackwell was raised human. She liked romance novels, ice cream cake and her ant farm. She enjoyed hiking and farmer's markets. She was excited when it was fall and pumpkin spice was back on the menu everywhere.

But Eleanor Blackwell wasn't human. She was a hybrid. A Janus. She had two natures and they were rarely in agreement. Fortunately, her creature side was latent, which meant when it came to most decisions, the human won out.

She had a great job at the Creature Oversight Committee which paid well, more than most hybrids could ever hope for; sure, being an auditor could be contentious, but she didn't take any shit. When she was tasked to audit the Creature Crisis Center, she was determined to be professional.

Unfortunately, the manager of the Center elicited feelings that weren't even remotely professional. To make matters worse, she was being overseen by her handsome Fae coworker, the one that had given her more midnight big O's than the lemon shaped massager in her nightstand, even if he didn't know it.

Tristan Oak was considered the Oversight Committees problem solver. When things went pear-shaped and it needed to solved with both brains AND brawn, they sent Tristan. So when the Oversight Committee sends him to manage the Creature Crisis Center post audit, he knows he can do this assignment with his eyes closed.

Unfortunately, the teams are led by Chet Drokan, a former friend turned enemy, who would not accept his authority without violence. To make matters worse, the auditor they sent was a hybrid who made his blood heat.

Or maybe that was Chet trying to light his ass on fire.

With enemies like these, who needs lovers?

THE TROUBLE WITH ENEMIES is the second book in the Creature Crisis Hotline series. It can be read as a standalone.
