Elyria has freed the world of the forgotten god, but her quest is just beginning.

Summerfell has fallen. The Imaran Empire has invaded Vazeri. The homes of her past and present are lost, and Elyria and her cousin Alar, the angel Keir, the guardsman Beltran, and the sorcery-bound Margarethe, flee to the Uncharted Lands. There, they must face a decision; whether to remove themselves from the chaos that follows in the wake of the death of a god, or fight once again.

There are rumours that the Imaran emperor seeks to make himself a god by venturing to the Great Plains and the graveyard of power it contains. But treachery comes from the most unexpected of places, and the price is high indeed.

Meanwhile, Margarethe accompanies Alar to Summerfell in order to take back his birthright. But her magic is volatile, and the more control she gains, the harder it is to pull away. Can she learn to control her newfound magic, or will she lose herself to it, just as she is losing her heart to Alar, the one person she cannot have.
