Douglas Adams (1952–2001) was an English author, humorist, and screenwriter best known for creating The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. What began as a BBC radio comedy became a beloved series of novels, TV shows, and films that sold millions of copies worldwide. Adams also wrote Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and co-authored The Meaning of Liff and Last Chance to See. A passionate advocate for conservation and technology, Adams remains one of Britain’s most influential comic writers.
