Alex Lockerby’s life has slowed down a bit since the state of New York issued a warrant for his arrest. The good news is that being on the lam frees him up to take the cases he wants — or so he thought.

It turns out that when the government comes calling it’s more of a command performance, and Alex finds himself investigating a series of bizarre poisonings in cattle country.
