Claire-Louise Bennett is a British writer who grew up in Wiltshire and later lived in Ireland, where she worked in theatre. She won the inaugural White Review Short Story Prize in 2013 and went on to publish her acclaimed debut, Pond, followed by Checkout 19, which was named one of The New York Times’ 10 Best Books of 2022. Her fiction, essays, and art writing have appeared in publications including The White Review, Harper’s Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, and frieze.
