Charlotte Brontë (1816–1855) was an English novelist and poet best known for her groundbreaking novel Jane Eyre. Writing under the pen name Currer Bell, she challenged Victorian norms with her bold portrayals of female independence and inner life. The eldest of the famed Brontë literary sisters, Charlotte also authored Shirley and Villette. Her work remains celebrated for its emotional depth, social critique, and enduring influence on English literature.
