Bernard Cornwell is the bestselling author of the Sharpe series, featuring the adventures of a British soldier in the Napoleonic Wars. Born in London in 1944 to a Canadian airman and a member of Britain’s Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, he was raised in Essex before studying at London University. After working as a teacher, he spent a decade at BBC Television, eventually becoming Head of Current Affairs in Northern Ireland. Moving to the United States in 1980, he began writing full-time and has continued to expand the Sharpe series while living with his wife, Judy.
