Alice McDermott is an award-winning author whose fiction has earned honors including the National Book Award, the Whiting Writers Award, and multiple Pulitzer Prize nominations. Her novels explore the quiet complexities of ordinary lives and have been recognized by the National Book Critics Circle, the PEN/Faulkner Foundation, and the Dublin IMPAC Award, among others. Her short work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Harper’s, and more. A member of the New York State Writers Hall of Fame, she teaches at Johns Hopkins University and lives in Maryland.
