Naked on the beach, Lewis coughs seawater from his lungs. He moves his hands over his body, feeling for wounds that are no longer there. Bite wounds. Claw wounds. He listens for the sounds of their approach--the creatures in the dark. They're coming, he knows. And however far he might run, once the darkness finds him, once his blood is spilled, he'll hear the same crashing waves, taste the same seawater, wash up on the same shore, reborn to do it all over again....

Others like him say it's a curse. Someone with a grudge has sentenced him to an eternity in this place. Now, guided only by his firelight and the eccentric, sometimes dangerous personalities he meets along the way, Lewis must scour the darkness in search of answers, before the curse can swallow him whole forever..
